Waver  was commissioned by Christopher Deane for the University of North Texas Percussion Players and premiered at the UNT "Night of Percussion" concert.  The piece was initially composed by taking a gesture generated by the Fibonacci sequence and using it to derive durations of notes. The gesture was then woven through the various "families,"  first snares, then cymbals, then timpani.  After each new sound is introduced, the counterpoint is generated by taking the gesture at a speed ratio proportional to the that of the foreground.
